Oasis Of Health
The Benefits of Systematic Kinesiology
All Oasis of Health practitioners offer sessions in Kinesiology which is one of the most profound complementary modalities available. Kinesiology taps into the biochemistry of the body and we are able to ‘read’ levels of imbalance through the amazing tool of Muscle Testing, everyone is different which is why many modalities work for some people and not others. Kinesiology takes the guesswork out of healthcare, our experience is where to look and what to look for.....your body will then reveal what it needs via muscle response. For a demonstration of muscle testing please watch our video.
Kinesiology looks at the whole person rather than just the symptoms as quite often the root of the problem is not where pain/discomfort/symptoms lie. For example IBS could be an emotional issue and or a food sensitivity, frequent infections could be underlying hormonal imbalances due to lack of certain nutrients and or stress, a structural/painful issue in the lower back maybe because of an imbalance in the intestines, headaches may originate from a jaw imbalance and so on.
- Neck and Back pain

What is Systematic Kinesiology?
Systematic Kinesiology was developed by Brian H Butler based from the original creation of Applied Kinesiology of Dr. Goodheart. Its main claim to fame? It is the most truly holistic approach to natural health care. It originated in 1964 through the work of Dr. George Goodheart, a Chiropractor who pioneered this specialty. He discovered that the strength or weakness of every muscle was connected to the health or lack of health of a specific corresponding organ. He also determined that the indicator muscles were associated with acupuncture meridians. Being constantly being researched and improved, it offers plenty of self-help techniques that really work.
Kinesiology is a natural health care system which uses gentle muscle testing to evaluate many functions of the body in the structural, chemical, neurological, and biochemical realms.
Kinesiological muscle testing does not assess strength, but tests the integrity of the many factors which determine its response when called upon to contract. If you think of a simple electrical circuit with a fuse - if the fuse is blown it will not work at all - if the fuse is the wrong rating it will blow the circuit or work erratically!! By fitting the correct fuse the circuit will work to its best ability. Systematic Kinesiology works the same way using muscle testing.
The person is asked to put their limbs in various specific positions. Each position tests a specific muscle. Each muscle is controlled by electrical circuits in the body.
The tester then asks the subject to hold the limb steady, while gentle pressure is exerted for two to three seconds. The pressure is smoothly released.
If the muscle is firing correctly and contracts firmly and steadily, the limb will not move under the pressure. When this happens, the muscle and its controlling circuits are considered balanced.
If the muscle is not firing correctly due to imbalances in the controlling circuits, the person will be unable to respond firmly and the limb will move even under gentle pressure, or feel spongy to the tester. This is an indication that something is out of balance and needs correction.
Imbalance may be because of an emotional disturbance, a nutritional lack, or for many reasons.
Kinesiology testing does not diagnose disease. Muscle testing enables analysis which detects minor functional imbalances. Minor imbalances when not corrected, accumulate and cause compensations. Compensations compound each other, lead to functional changes, and give rise to symptoms of discomfort, pain or maybe allergic reactions. If these warnings are ignored, disease can follow.
Using massage, nutrition, and contact points, Kinesiology helps with: emotions and anxieties, specific personal dietary intake and supplements for nutritional deficiencies, structural imbalances and energy blocks. Kinesiology balances the whole person, which enhances health and well-being.
If this also sounds like something you would like learn or pursue as a career we also run a school of kinesiology. To view more information on Taster Events or for course information please 'Click Here'.
Applied Kinesiology was discovered in 1964. Dr. George Goodheart D.C., an American chiropractor was using some of the standard Kinesiological muscle tests to assess muscle function on a patient, and was intrigued by some of the apparently inconsistent results he was getting.
This began a systematic period of brilliant research which led him to discover the correlation between the lymphatic system, the muscles, and Chapman’s reflexes. Then working with Bennett’s reflexes, he discovered the connections between these points which stimulate vascular flow and each muscle.
Then he turned his attention to body energy flow as explained by Chinese acupuncturists. This was a really amazing breakthrough, as never before in the West had the meridians of acupuncture been integrated with our physical understanding of anatomy and physiology.
Applied Kinesiology has become the fastest growing natural approach to rectifying health problems. Thousands of chiropractors in the States are using it. Many of whom are dedicated members of the International College of Applied Kinesiology, who in addition to their five years training, are also required to do extensive post-graduate work, and produce original research papers to qualify for diplomat status in the College. This has resulted in much new information being made available to practitioners in the natural health care arena.
In this country, many physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, physical therapists, masseurs and some doctors are using Applied Kinesiological techniques. They achieve unusually quick results with many problems which previously resisted all attempts to gain relief by traditional methods.
One reason for its success is that A.K. takes factors into consideration which have never before been addressed in the Western approach to health problem solving. Systematic Kinesiology is a simplified form of the highly developed and technical Applied Kinesiology used by professionals in health care.
John Thie, D.C., wanted to offer the general public guidelines with which they could take a practical interest in their own health and reduce the cost of health care. He felt strongly that until the general population is encouraged to take much more personal responsibility for their own health, rather than to rely almost entirely upon professionals to solve their health problems, we will never begin to solve the huge social/financial problem which ill-health poses to our society today.
He wrote the textbook with Mary Marks, D.C., called Touch for Health in 1972, and began offering classes and a training program to train “Touch for Health” Instructors. In 1976, Brian Butler went to the States, and qualified as a Touch for Health Instructor, and since then has pioneered the teaching of Kinesiology classes regularly up and down the country, and also in many countries in Europe.
In 1986, The Academy of Systematic Kinesiology was formed to offer a new syllabus which took advantage of the latest research and developments in Kinesiology. There is a Professional Practitioner Course available for those who wish to become a fully qualified Kinesiologist.
Kinesiology is a means of enhancing health and well-being which can be easily learned by anyone, even those who have never before had any experience in this field. It is a completely safe way of balancing body energies. It helps athletes and sportsmen to achieve better than their previous bests.
It aids inner city dwellers to fight off the effects of urban life. It provides a means whereby small imbalances may be found and rectified before they develop into anything more serious. Everyone who learns Kinesiology is strongly urged not to become their own doctor, and if any health problem presents, or symptoms of any kind persist, then they are encouraged to seek professional help.
Ileocecal Valve (I C V) Syndrome
The Ileocecal Valve (ICV) can be a major factor in ones health and wellbeing.
A malfunctioning Ileocecal Valve is an extremely common condition. It can give rise to an almost unbelievable list of distressing symptoms. It is frequently the cause of the “I just don’t feel well” syndromes which abound, as well as many types of pain and other specific symptomatic patterns.
The Ileocecal Valve controls the flow of digested food when it is time for it to leave the Small Intestine, and go into the Large Intestine to start to become faeces. It should stay open and close at appropriate times. If it stays open too long, or not long enough, problems occur.
A small example of these are; Abdominal pain, “grumbling appendix”, groin pain. Acne. Allergies are aggravated by the immune system weakening. “Arthritic” type aches and pains. Bad breath. Bloating. Blurred vision. Body Odour. Bowel Gas, distension of belly. Burping habitually. Candida Albicans persistent problems, open ICV creates alkalinity. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Catarrh. Chest pains that the person might think feels like heart pains. Chronic Fatigue. Colds or when the body is attempting to clear toxins. Colitis, diverticulitis, “sludging up” of the bowel. And much more...........
The proper movement of the food through the digestive system is controlled by several valves. One at the top, and one at the bottom of the stomach, one at the junction of the Large and Small Intestine and the anus.
The Ileo-Caecal Valve controls the flow of digested food when it is time for it to leave the Small Intestine, and go into the Large Intestine to start to become faeces. It should stay open and close at appropriate times. If it stays open too long, or not long enough, problems occur.
See the partial list of ailments below that can be caused by the ileo-caecal valve malfunctioning.
If you think this might be the cause of some of your health problems, please consider getting yourself checked out……It could well change your whole life!!
What Problems Can A Malfunctioning I.C.V. Cause?
This is not necessarily a complete list, but the following give some idea of the diversity of effects people can suffer;
Abdominal pain, “grumbling appendix”, groin pain. Acne. Allergies, are aggravated by the immune system weakening. “Arthritic” type aches and pains. Bad breath. Bloating. Blurred vision. Body Odour. Bowel Gas, distension of belly. Burping habitually. Candida Albicans persistent problems, open ICV creates alkalinity. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Catarrh, Chest pains, that the person might think feels like heart pains. Chronic Fatigue. Colds, or when the body is attempting to clear toxins. Colitis, diverticulitis, “sludging up” of the bowel. Constipation, and diarrhoea, alternating. Dehydration. Depression. Dark circles under the eyes, also a sign of kidney stress. Dizzyness. Digestive disorders. Elbow Pain, pseudo-tennis, and pseudo-golfer’s elbow. “Flu” symptoms. Fatigue, and general lethargy. Fluid Retention. Gas. Headaches. Hip pain, particularly on the right. Hyperadrenia (relative) when closed. Hypoadrenia (relative) when open. Hypochlorhydria. Indigestion. “Irritable Bowel Syndrome”. Knee pains, small joint pain. Lethargy. M.E. failure to recover from (Post Viral Syndrome). Migraines. Nausea. Nervous debility. Oedema. Pallor. Palpitations or feeling of “heart flutter”. Post nasal drip. Post-Viral Syndrome. Pseudo-Bursitis. Pseudo-frozen shoulder. Pseudo sinus infection. Shoulder Pain, shoulder joint pain, particularly on the right. Skin problems, exacerbates eczema or psoriasis. Spots. Stiff neck, from toxins in weak upper trapezius. Sudden low back pain, “I only bent over to a pick up a pencil.”. T.A.T.T. (Tired all the time syndrome). Thirst, sudden or excessive. Thrush. Tinnitus, ringing or whistling noises in the ear. Water retention. Remember this is list is only an example of ICV symptoms.
What Can Cause The I.C.V. To Malfunction?
THE MIND with its negative emotions, thoughts, ideas, dreams, fears, phobias, and anxieties. All have a psychosomatic effect. The psyche (mind) directly affects the body (soma). Americans refer to a “Gut reaction”, when involved with emotional upsets.
THE BIO-CHEMISTRY of food digestion. Too much raw food, bran, roughage like bran, alcohol in excess, caffeinated drinks, crisps, nuts and even whole grains can cause the I.C.V. to malfunction. So can allergies and food sensitivities, a lack of HCL and digestive enzymes, minerals and vitamins. S.K. can check for specific nutritional needs.
THE BODY Over-tiredness due to straining the structure of the muscles, bones and organs, or lack of exercise can upset smooth functioning of the digestive system.
LIFE FORCE The fourth, often neglected vital part of us is the LIFE FORCE. Microwaves, energy excesses and deficiencies in acupuncture meridians, electro-magnetic pollution, all can affect our digestion.
